IBW 2015: A week in review!

Thank you so much for an awesome IBW 2015: Embrace Your World! Thank you for your pictures and stories, for participating in our events both online and in person, and for being such an integral part of our babywearing community.

We had a great turnout for our first Monday meeting, where we talked about how to Embrace Your Day — some of our members took home some great giveaways from the box of IBW goodies we received from BWI for sharing how babywearing helps them day to day!

Thank you to Hike It Baby Houston for teaming up with us for our zoo walk on Wednesday for Embrace Your Wild! We were able to do some carrier demos, help folks get more comfortable wearing the carriers they brought, and hike the beautiful trail around the zoo park. The Houston Zoo also had a special zookeeper chat scheduled for us where we learned about alligators and how they carry their young in their mouths! And our little wearees got to pet a baby alligator at the end.

Friday was our Embrace Your Community event with a play date at Blossoming Mama. Attendees got to play with some new and different carriers like onbus and various soft-structured carriers. The kids had lots of fun playing with each other!

Saturday, we staffed a table at Babies R Us in North Houston for a Baby Fair and Diaper Derby, at which we demonstrated carries in many kinds of carriers and helped expecting families choose carriers for their registries.

A special thanks to our many BWIGH volunteers this week who helped make this happen — we wouldn’t exist without you! And last but not least, thanks to Babywearing International, Inc., the IBW planning committee, and all the sponsors (including Ergobaby, líllébaby, and CatBird Baby, who made donations to our libraries, and Happy Family who came to our events with snacks).

See you at next year’s IBW events!
